Hi- I have a 6 month old Maltese named Louie. We’ve been having some problems with Louie as far as house training goes. We’ve recently moved so for awhile I was attributing these problems to that. We moved into a larger apartment with my fiance’s family to help them out- Our move definitely disrupted Louie’s house training and we had to begin a new routine.
Also my fiance’s mother is home with him ALL day (she has a Chihuahua who is “paper trained” although it’s more like she’s trained to urinate and defecate on anything that slightly resembles her potty pad.)
I felt Louie was getting a lot of mixed messages from everyone in the home as to where it is okay and not okay to go to the bathroom- SOO finally I decided to start his “crate training” over…we have sort of a little gated area we leave him in…and his feet only touch the ground once he’s outside- First question I’m a little worried that he is going to see the mother’s dog peeing inside (everywhere she wants) and begin mimicking that? Is that a possibility? Should i be worried??
Second Louie started peeing literally anywhere even in his “home” so i finally took him to the vet (today) to rule out everything (i was beginning to get sooo frustrated with the poor pup) He did have a pretty severe UTI and is now being treated. So i’m now feeling horrible for him- But am glad we found it.
Any suggestions as to what we could do? Training advice? And will he mi mick the other dog?

OK
so when I turn 18 I will be doing animal behavior college online.

as a future dog/animal trainer- I want to get as much experience as possible with different things.

so far all I have experience in is watching obedience classes, attending obedience classes and I’ve been to a fancy conference and got to meet with an AWESOME trainer from Australia who moved to the US…this guy is great- he even trained horses to bow at the gate and come right up to the halter and stick its head in
among other things.

but anyways.

I need more experience and I want as much as I can get.
any ideas?

I also want to be able to train service and therapy dogs. how do I go about that?
as far as I know ABC only does like obedience training.
anyone know somewhere else that I can learn and get certified in therapy and service dog training too?

I also want to be able to become an animal behaviorist other than just a dog trainer.

thanks everyone and any advice/tips/hints is GREATLY appreciated!!
please star if you cannot answer
sorry
but cesar=crap to me

We have a 1-year old Maremma Sheepdog that we just can’t control. He is an outdoor dog that lives mainly in our fenced-in backyard with our other maremma.
We walk them each one to two times each day.
The problem is, this dog keeps digging his way out of the yard, and escaping.
He doesn’t come when he is called, but will look to see where we are, and will run whenever we get close.
We have had other dogs in the past, and none have been this difficult to train.
This dog, on his most recent escape, ran up to a child and started barking his head off, circling him, and came very close to biting him. He snarled and snapped at the air close to him.
We don’t know what to do, and if we can’t get this dog trained better, we think he may have to be put down. He just came too close to biting that child. :(
We don’t know what to do now!!
Any suggestions??
