Senior dog – carrier/tote training advice?

notiriouskep asked:
My mini dachshund is 14 now and understandably doesn’t have the same energy she had when she was a puppy. Now that the weather is warming up, we’ll be doing a lot of traveling and day trips. She loves going with us, but she just can’t keep up anymore – so we end up carrying her. I’m considering buying her a carrier/tote, but she’s never used one and will likely be afraid of it at first. Does anyone have any training tips/tricks for me?

I have a minature weeni-dog, and she is so stubborn! I will take her out to use the bathroom for 30 min, and she will come back in and still use the bathroom in the floor! My husband is getting pretty sick of it, and if I can’t figure out something, he will want me to find her a new home, and I just can’t do it, so please someone help!!

Hi! Well, I’m getting a puppy in February and it’s a PUPPY, so it’s going to need ya’ know potty training and all that stuff, but the thing is I have school so I won’t have time to take it outside and everything, so I was thinking that I would get pee pads and maybe a crate and keep him in my bathroom or something–Is this a good idea? Also if you have any other advice on training please tell!! Thanks.

Need advice about training my dog with underground invisible fence?

I have a 9 year old male pug and have been trying to train him with an underground invisible fence I just installed. I bought extra flags so there is a flag about every 4 to 6 inches. But after three days, he still isn’t getting it. He has not correlated the static correction with the flags. Now he doesn’t even want to go outside. If I take him outside, he freaks out and doesn’t want to move. I followed the directions on how to train just as described in the book that came with the fence. What should I do???
I have the collar on the lowest setting. I can tell when he gets the static correction (which occurs only when he is by the fence) because he yelps and jumps up into the air.

I need some advice about training my dog?

I have a 3 year old pomeranian, and I must say he is a real menace lately. He goes to the bathroom in the basement when he is alone and barks when he doesn’t get to come up. People say that this is because he doesn’t like being down there alone and wants to come join the rest of the family. It is a finished basement so it’s not like we lock the dog down in a dirty basement. We go down there all the time but when we come up, he barks. Any advice on how to train him to stop barking and peeing everywhere. We’ve tried letting him up but he still pees on the carpets and goes into the trashcan and rips stuff up. He really is a menace. We want to try everything we can without getting rid of him.

What types of things will the PetSmart dog training teach my dog?

We just adopted a 1-year-old MinPin/Spaniel mix. She’s a great dog, very playful. She doesn’t bite or get agressive with us (which is grrrrreat!). But she was never trained, and still has a lot of “puppy” in her. She jumps up (over and over and over again no matter how many times you tell her “down” or “no”), barks like crazy at anything and everything that moves (even the neighbors that she’s gotten used to), and will pee/poop in the house if we allow her out of her cage for extended periods of time (even if she’s just come in from outside). I’d also like her to walk a bit better on her leash instead of doing her best to pull me around the block. Will an obedience training like PetSmart’s help with these things, or should I be looking at ways to train her myself?
